Smart Agriculture Researcher Wins Best Presenter Award at International ICATES 2024 Seminar

Aceh, September 18, 2024 – Dwiki Nugraha, a researcher and student at the Smart Agriculture Research Center, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has won the Best Presenter award at the International Seminar titled International Conference on Agricultural Technology and Environmental Sustainability (ICATES) 2024. The seminar was held by Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh, on September 19–20, 2024. The event served as a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners from various fields to share knowledge and the latest innovations in agricultural technology, engineering, and environmental science.

Dwiki Nugraha received the Best Presenter award for presenting research titled "Development of Thermal Camera-Based Crop Water Stress Index Monitoring System in Plant Factories." This research focuses on developing a plant water stress monitoring system using thermal imaging, which aims to detect water stress in plants at an early stage. By monitoring the water stress index, this system can help plant factory cultivation manage water use more efficiently, which is crucial for maintaining plant health and productivity in controlled agriculture. The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho, Prof. Dr. Lilik Sutiarso, and Dr. Muhammad Affan Fajar Falah at the Smart Agriculture Research Center and in collaboration with a researcher from Japan, Prof. Takashi Okayasu (Kyushu University).

Best Presenter Awards Certificate.

ICATES 2024 was attended by participants from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany, and several others. The total number of participants reached hundreds, attending both online via the Zoom platform and in person at the Academic Activity Center of Universitas Syiah Kuala. With the theme "Integrating Technology, Engineering, and Environmental Aspects for Sustainable Agriculture," ICATES 2024 aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and research results related to the development of the latest technology to support sustainable agriculture.

The award won by Dwiki Nugraha is not only a source of pride for Smart Agri, the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada, but also brings new hope for the development of agricultural technology in Indonesia. This achievement is expected to inspire other students and researchers to continue innovating and contributing to creating sustainable solutions for agricultural challenges in the future.
