Seven Agricultural Engineering Professionals Receive APEC Engineer Certificates in Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, March 18, 2025 – Seven Agricultural Engineering professionals received APEC Engineer certificates at a seminar held by the Professional Board of Agricultural Engineering of the Association of Indonesian Engineers (BKTP PII) at the MMPT Auditorium of Instiper Yogyakarta. The event, which took place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. WIB, marked the culmination of the registration and profile activation process that began in June and August 2024. APEC Engineer certification is a professional recognition for engineers who demonstrate high competence and ethical standards, recognized throughout the member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). This certification enhances engineer mobility and credibility in the Asia-Pacific region.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, as Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems, welcomed the APEC Eng. certification. "This certification is very important for enhancing the recognition of engineer competence in the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems at the international level," he said. "This will open up opportunities for broader collaboration and research development."

Meanwhile, Ir. Andri Prima Nugroho, Ph.D, Chairman of the Perteta Yogyakarta Branch, stated that APEC Engineer certification will increase recognition and benefit for Indonesian agricultural engineers in competing at the international level. "With this certification, Indonesian agricultural engineers will find it easier to pursue careers and collaborate with engineers from other APEC countries," he added.

The seminar not only included certificate presentation, but also a BKTP PII seminar and joint breaking of the fast. A focused group discussion (FGD) was also proposed to discuss enhancing recognition of the agricultural engineering field through BKTP PII, featuring speakers from government, industry, and academia. Several proposals for future activities also emerged, including cooperation with BK Hayati and Perteta Yogyakarta, as well as alignment of themes with UGM's digitalization program.

This achievement is the result of a lengthy process that began with filling out the registration form in June 2024 and continued with profile activation in August 2024. This process involved strict verification of documents and data in accordance with APEC standards.
