Research Publication: Web-Based Fertilization Decision Support System for Precision Agriculture Optimization at Nawungan Selopamioro Fruit Orchard

Yogyakarta, April 4, 2025 – Smart Agriculture Research Center (SARC) UGM announces the development and publication of a web-based fertilization management system to enhance precision agriculture at Nawungan Selopamioro Fruit Orchard (KBNS). This research has produced a web application capable of calculating fertilizer requirements based on analysis of soil nutrient availability (N, P, K), land area, plant type and age, as well as available fertilizer types. The results of this research have been published in Jurnal Ilmiah Rekayasa Pertanian dan Biosistem (JRPB) Universitas Mataram, Volume 12, Number 2, September 2024, with the title "Enabling Precision Agriculture through a Web-Based Fertilization Management System for Nawungan Selopamioro Fruit Orchards". This research was conducted by Andri Prima Nugroho, Fauzan Edy Wijaya, Ngadisih Ngadisih, Rudiati Evi Masithoh, and Lilik Sutiarso.

The system was developed using the waterfall methodology, encompassing requirements analysis through system maintenance. This web application not only manages land assets and administrative activities, but also fertilizer requirements tailored to specific land blocks, plant characteristics, and nutrient inventory. Field validation ensures the accuracy of system recommendations. Although comprehensive testing demonstrated a 100% functionality success rate, the system currently operates within a limited scope of variables. Future development is planned to incorporate broader agronomic factors, such as pH and soil texture, to enhance system precision.

Benefits and Impact:

This system represents a significant technological advancement in precision agriculture, promising improved fertilizer application efficiency and supporting sustainable agricultural practices at KBNS. With this system, fertilization is expected to be conducted more precisely, reducing fertilizer waste and minimizing environmental impact.
