Bridging Research and Industry, SmartAgri UGM Opens INAGRITECH 2025 with Precision Agriculture and Smart Agriculture Innovation

Jakarta – Smart Agriculture Research Center (SmartAgri) Universitas Gadjah Mada participated in INAGRITECH 2025, an international-scale agricultural technology exhibition held on 29–31 July 2025 at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta. This participation serves as a strategic opportunity for SmartAgri to introduce various campus-based research innovations that support the development of precision agriculture in tropical regions.

On the first day of the exhibition, the SmartAgri booth located at A303-01, Hall A3 became one of the main attractions, showcasing cutting-edge technology in smart farming, ranging from technology in open field horticulture, paddy rice field cultivation, oil palm plantation management, smart greenhouse technology, and plant factory. These innovations were designed to address challenges in the agricultural sector in the digital era, as well as to support efficiency and sustainability of agricultural production from small-scale to industrial operations.

As part of the exhibition's activity series, the SmartAgri team also had the opportunity to participate in a discussion session titled "Smart Agriculture Technology and Innovation" which was part of the Agri Technology Forum. In the session, Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc., a junior lecturer at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM and SmartAgri representative, emphasized the importance of the campus's role in bridging research and the needs of the agricultural industry.

"We want to demonstrate that innovations developed on campus do not stop in the laboratory. Through collaboration and downstream development, this technology must be accessible and widely utilized by farmers, MSMEs, and the industrial sector," explained Ardan.

The exhibition also served as a venue for direct interaction between the SmartAgri team and various stakeholders, including students, academics, practitioners, and industry partners. The high enthusiasm of visitors demonstrated that the issue of smart agriculture and digital transformation in the agricultural sector is receiving increasing attention.

Through its participation in INAGRITECH 2025, SmartAgri UGM reaffirmed its commitment as a center for precision agriculture innovation that is oriented not only toward technology development, but also toward its practical application in supporting food security and community empowerment in tropical regions.

SmartAgri expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of visitors on the first day and hopes that this event will be the beginning of broader collaboration in the development of campus-based agricultural technology.
