Smart Agriculture Research Center FTP UGM Participates in NVAITC Launch Preparation for Strengthening AI Research in Precision Agriculture

Yogyakarta, March 13, 2026 – Smart Agricultural Research Center, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM) participated in the Pre Kick-Off Meeting to prepare for the NVIDIA AI Technology Center (NVAITC) Launch Event held online on Friday (13/3). This meeting was part of initial coordination between UGM and industry partners in preparing the launch of a collaboration center for artificial intelligence development that will support various research innovations, including in the precision agriculture sector.
The involvement of the FTP UGM team in this activity is part of efforts to strengthen the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and high-performance computing in the development of modern agricultural systems that are adaptive to tropical conditions. Through this collaboration center, various research related to land monitoring, precision irrigation management, and agricultural data analysis based on sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) are expected to develop more optimally. In the meeting, participants discussed various preparations ahead of the NVAITC launch event, including the determination of organizing committees from UGM, Indosat, and NVIDIA, as well as discussions on logistical aspects of the activity such as timing, location, invitation lists, and preparation of the event rundown. Additionally, the readiness of the collaboration center's infrastructure was discussed, which includes preparation of shared space (joint-center) and integration of computing systems between UGM's local servers and Indosat's Merdeka GPU infrastructure located on Cloudeka's platform, which is owned by Lintasarta.


During the meeting, the technology framework provided by NVIDIA and Indosat to support the development of the Tropical Precision Agriculture project was also introduced. This technology includes support for data processing from various sources such as drones, cameras, and field sensors, data processing at edge devices, development of artificial intelligence models, and analytics and visualization systems that can support decision-making in data-driven agricultural management.
As one of the research teams that will contribute to the research showcase, the FTP UGM team is preparing various precision agriculture technology innovations that leverage the integration of field sensors, data analysis, and artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of land management and agricultural resources. This effort aligns with the commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through improved agricultural productivity, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the use of artificial intelligence technology, and SDG 13 (Climate Action) through the development of adaptive and data-driven agricultural systems.
Through its involvement in the development of NVAITC, the FTP UGM team reaffirms its commitment to developing data-driven and artificial intelligence-based precision agriculture technology innovations that are applicable and sustainable. This collaboration between higher education institutions and industry is expected to strengthen research development and promote digital transformation in the agricultural sector.
