UGM Agricultural Engineering and Telkom University Explore Research Collaboration on Cybersecurity in Digital Agriculture

Yogyakarta, March 13, 2026. The Smart Agriculture Research Center team at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) together with faculty and researchers from Telkom University Purwokerto held an initial discussion to explore potential research collaboration in the field of cybersecurity in digital agriculture. The meeting took place on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. WIB, at the Discussion Room of UGM's Lab. TLBP, marking an initial step in strengthening interdisciplinary research that is crucial for the future of agriculture.

The discussion was attended by Muhammad Agung Nugroho, S.Kom., M.Kom., a faculty member and researcher from the Informatics Engineering Program at Telkom University Purwokerto. Meanwhile, the UGM Smart Agriculture team was represented by Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho as coordinator, along with Muhammad Athala Fawwaz Dzaky, STP., and Fathuzaky Setiawan, STP.

The main agenda of the meeting included presentations on each institution's research on digital agriculture. The UGM team presented developments in Smart Agriculture research at UGM, while representatives from Telkom University Purwokerto introduced their digital agriculture research initiatives. The discussion culminated in focusing on potential research collaboration, particularly in addressing cybersecurity challenges in the increasingly complex digital agriculture sector.

Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho stated that cybersecurity has become a vital aspect alongside the adoption of digital technology in the agricultural sector. "Digital agriculture is not only about efficiency and productivity, but also about how we protect data and systems from cyber threats. Collaboration with Telkom University Purwokerto will be highly strategic for developing innovative security solutions," he said.

Following the discussion session, the group also took time to visit the research facilities and research portfolio at UGM's Smart Agriculture Research Center, including a visit to UGM's Smart Agri Plant Factory. This visit provided a direct understanding of environmental condition management facilities and the potential for advanced data analysis as a topic to be worked on together within the framework of future collaboration.

This collaboration is expected to produce relevant research and practical solutions to strengthen cybersecurity resilience in Indonesia's digital agriculture sector, supporting Indonesia's vision as a world maritime axis that also excels in agricultural innovation.
