Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho Invited as Plenary Speaker at MSPPC 2026 Malaysia

Yogyakarta, June 2026 – Academic members of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems, Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada have once again achieved international recognition and contribution. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho has been honored to serve as a Plenary Speaker at the 36th Malaysian Society of Plant Physiology Conference (MSPPC 2026), which will be held on 28–30 July 2026 at M Roof Hotel, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

MSPPC is an annual conference organized by the Malaysian Society of Plant Physiology (MSPP) and is one of the important scientific forums in Southeast Asia that brings together researchers, academics, practitioners, and stakeholders in the fields of plant physiology and sustainable agriculture. This year, the conference theme is "Plant Physiology for Sustainable and Climate-Smart Future", highlighting the importance of scientific innovation in addressing climate change and global food security challenges.

In an official invitation letter from the organizing committee, Dr. Andri has been invited to deliver a plenary paper with the title:

"Translating Plant Physiological Insights into Data-Driven Precision Agriculture"

This topic addresses how plant physiology understanding can be translated into data-driven precision agriculture systems through the use of sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and other digital technologies. This approach is expected to support more accurate decision-making, increase resource use efficiency, and strengthen the agricultural sector's adaptation to climate change.

The plenary session will be held on 28 July 2026 in a hybrid format, consisting of a 30-minute recorded video presentation followed by a 5-minute online question-and-answer session with international conference participants.

MSPPC 2026 has two main objectives: to disseminate research results related to plant biodiversity, physiology, conservation, and sustainable production, and to promote multidisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration in plant physiology research development. The conference covers various strategic topics such as ecophysiology, stress biology, plant production, biotechnology, food security, plant-soil-microbe interaction, climate change, biostimulants, and artificial intelligence in agriculture.

This invitation as a plenary speaker represents international recognition of the research contributions made by Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho and the Smart Agriculture (SmartAgri) UGM research group in developing data-driven and technology-based precision agriculture. This participation is also expected to further strengthen the international collaboration networks of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM with various research and educational institutions across Southeast Asia.

Through participation in MSPPC 2026, SmartAgri UGM continues to commit to developing agricultural technology innovations that support productivity, sustainability, and food security in the era of smart and data-driven agriculture.
