SmartAgri UGM Team Attends International Conference on Smart Mechatronics (ICSMech) 2026

Bandung, June 9, 2026 – The Smart Agriculture Research Center (Smartagri) team from Universitas Gadjah Mada participated as delegates in The 2nd International Conference on Smart Mechatronics (ICSMech) 2026, organized by the Research Center for Smart Mechatronics, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), in collaboration with Telkom University. The international conference, which carried the theme "Empowering Smart Mechatronics Innovations: Robotics, AI, and Intelligent Systems for a Connected Intelligent World", took place in a hybrid format at The Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung.

ICSMech 2026 served as a meeting ground for researchers, academics, industry practitioners, and stakeholders from various countries to discuss the latest developments in robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, instrumentation, and mechatronics. The conference featured various international keynote speakers and more than one hundred selected research papers presented across multiple technical sessions covering six main areas, ranging from robotics and system intelligence to information systems for mechatronics.

In this event, Smart Agriculture Research Center UGM was represented by Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc., Fahmi Arsyad, S.T.P., and Mutiara Alifia Ramadhanty, who attended the conference as audience members. Through various presentation sessions and scientific discussions, the team gained insights into the development of mechatronics technology, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, smart sensors, and data analysis that are increasingly being applied across various sectors, from manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, to natural resource management. The various innovations presented at the conference also provided new perspectives on opportunities for leveraging smart technology to support the development of more modern, data-driven agricultural systems.

Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc., stated that the conference provided many new perspectives that could serve as inspiration for advancing research in precision agriculture.

"Many of the research papers presented and materials delivered by the speakers were very interesting. The most striking aspect was seeing how mechatronics technology is developing and being applied across various fields with different approaches. This opened new horizons for us regarding opportunities for integrating smart technology into agricultural systems and has inspired the development of more innovative research ideas in the future," said Ardan.

In addition to attending scientific sessions, the team also had the opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences with participants from various research institutions and universities. These interactions proved to be a valuable platform for understanding global research trends while expanding academic networks with potential for supporting research collaborations in the future.

Participation in ICSMech 2026 demonstrates the commitment of Smart Agriculture Research Center UGM to continue keeping pace with the latest developments in science and technology in order to support innovation development in the field of smart agriculture. The knowledge and experience gained from the conference are expected to serve as a foundation for producing technology solutions that are increasingly relevant and impactful for Indonesia's agricultural sector.
