SmartAgri UGM Team Wins Gold Award at BRIN Exhibition on Smart Technology (BEST) 2026

Bandung, June 9, 2026 – The Smart Agriculture Research Center (SmartAgri) team from Universitas Gadjah Mada has achieved another proud accomplishment at the BRIN Exhibition on Smart Technology (BEST) 2026, held by the Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) at The Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung. With their innovation "Smart UAV Technology: Remote Sensing for Precision Agriculture", the team won the Gold Award after competing with various technology innovations from universities, research institutions, and other organizations.

The team, led by Mutiara Alifia Ramadhanty as team chair and Fahmi Arsyad, S.T.P. as team member, prepared intensively for the competition over several days before the exhibition. Various aspects, from presentation material preparation, poster design, technology demonstration, to simulation of question-and-answer sessions with the jury panel, were thoroughly prepared under the guidance and mentorship of Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc. as team supervisor.

This preparation process was an important factor that helped the team convey the innovation they developed in a more systematic and comprehensible manner to both visitors and jurors. In addition to presenting their research results, the team also made efforts to explain the impact and potential application of the technology developed to support the transformation of agriculture toward a more modern, efficient, and data-driven system.

Team chair Mutiara Alifia Ramadhanty expressed her gratitude for the award won. According to her, this achievement is the result of the team's hard work and support from various parties involved in both the research process and competition preparation.

"Of course we are happy and very grateful. This award is an encouragement as well as a form of appreciation for all the effort, time, and hard work that the team has invested throughout the research process until we were able to participate in this competition. Additionally, the experience during the competition also provided many new insights because we were able to see various innovations and interesting ideas from other teams. While attending the conference sessions, we also gained considerable knowledge and new perspectives from researchers and participants. This experience is very valuable because it not only broadened our horizons but also motivated us to continue learning and developing better research in the future," Mutiara said.

This award is evidence that the innovation developed by SmartAgri is competitive and relevant in addressing various challenges facing agriculture in the future. This achievement also demonstrates the importance of collaboration between students, researchers, and faculty in producing research-based innovations that are not only academically excellent but also have the potential for field implementation.

Through this accomplishment, Smart Agriculture Research Center UGM hopes to continue contributing to the development of precision agriculture technology in Indonesia and expand collaboration with various parties to promote the creation of a more productive, efficient, and sustainable agricultural system.
