DTPB UGM and PT Sang Hyang Seri Discuss Opportunities for Precision Agricultural Technology Development Collaboration

Yogyakarta, August 6, 2026 – The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), together with PT Sang Hyang Seri, held a discussion meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2026 in the Meeting Room of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology at UGM. This meeting was part of efforts to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions and industry in the development of research-based agricultural technology. The activity also served as an opportunity to deepen communication between academics and industry partners in formulating the direction of technology development that aligns with the needs of the agricultural sector.
The discussion was attended by representatives from PT Sang Hyang Seri, lecturers from DTPB UGM, and the SmartAgri team. The meeting provided a forum for exchanging views on technology needs in the field, while also identifying opportunities for implementing innovations that can support the modernization of the agricultural sector. Various experiences and perspectives from each party provided valuable input in formulating future collaboration opportunities. The discussion proceeded interactively with a collaborative spirit to produce solutions that could be implemented in practice.
During the discussion, both parties explored various collaboration opportunities, ranging from the utilization of precision agricultural technology, strengthening cultivation data management systems, to the implementation of land mapping and sensor-based technology to support more effective decision-making. Additionally, discussions covered plans for establishing initial steps for implementing activities through field surveys and determining priority locations as the basis for joint program implementation. These discussions marked the beginning of developing a targeted collaboration program based on field needs.


Collaboration with industry partners such as PT Sang Hyang Seri is an important part of promoting the downstream application of research results so that they can provide tangible benefits to the national agricultural sector. Synergy between academia and industry is expected to accelerate the adoption of adaptive and sustainable technology in accordance with field needs. In addition to generating innovation, this partnership is also expected to expand opportunities for implementing research results on a wider scale.
Through this meeting, DTPB UGM and PT Sang Hyang Seri demonstrated shared commitment to building sustainable collaboration in the development of agricultural innovation. It is hoped that the collaboration established can produce technology-based solutions capable of increasing productivity and competitiveness of Indonesia's agricultural sector in the future.
