Smart Agriculture Research Center DTPB FTP UGM Research Team Participates in RGBI 2026 Proposal Presentation Selection

Yogyakarta, April 20, 2026 — Researchers from the Smart Agriculture Research Center (Smartagri), Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), participated in the Research Grant Bank Indonesia (RGBI) 2026 Proposal Presentation Selection event organized by the Bank Indonesia Institute (BINS) online. This activity is one of the stages in the research proposal evaluation process, which aims to generate scientific contributions to national strategic issues, particularly in the field of food security.

The presentation selection was held on Monday, April 20, 2026 through the Zoom Meeting platform. The activity was attended by researchers from various institutions who had passed the administrative selection and were officially invited by the RGBI Management Team. At this event, the Smartagri research team presented a research proposal on agricultural technology innovation in facing climate change challenges. In general, the proposed research examines the utilization of Internet of Things (IoT)-based technology in improving agricultural production efficiency and productivity, as well as evaluating its economic impact on local food systems. The research approach was designed using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to produce comprehensive and data-driven analysis.

The activity was also attended by representatives from the Farmer Women's Group (KWT) as a program partner playing a role in the implementation and testing of technology at the community scale, as well as Prof. Takashi Okayasu, Ph.D from Kyushu University, Japan, as a research partner who provided an international perspective in the development of precision agricultural technology and sensor-based systems. In the presentation and discussion session, the research team emphasized the importance of integrating precision agricultural technology as part of a climate change adaptation strategy. The proposed innovation is not only oriented towards increasing production output, but also towards efficient use of resources such as water, fertilizer, and labor, as well as its contribution to food price stability.

The participation of Smart Agriculture Research Center DTPB FTP UGM in the RGBI 2026 selection demonstrates its commitment to developing applied research with direct impact for society and policymakers. This involvement also strengthens Smartagri's role as a center of excellence in the development of precision agricultural technology and biosystem systems that are adaptive to global challenges.

This activity is in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), through the development of efficient, adaptive, and sustainable agricultural technology innovations. Through participation in the RGBI 2026 program, Smart Agriculture Research Center DTPB FTP UGM is expected to continue contributing to research-based solutions that support national food security and Indonesia's economic stability.
