SmartAgri UGM Showcases Smart Farming Innovations at INAGRITECH 2026, Driving Agricultural Research to Market

Universitas Gadjah Mada's Smart Agriculture Research Center brings campus research to Indonesia's largest agricultural technology expo to connect innovation with industry needs.

Jakarta, July 28, 2026. The Smart Agriculture Research Center (SmartAgri) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) returned to the spotlight at INAGRITECH 2026, Indonesia's largest international exhibition for agricultural technology and machinery, held from July 28–30, 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. On the opening day, Tuesday (28/7), the SmartAgri booth drew a steady stream of industry players, academics, and students eager to see homegrown precision-agriculture research firsthand.

Now in its 12th edition since its debut in 2011, INAGRITECH brings together more than 350 national and international companies presenting the latest agricultural technologies, machinery, equipment, and services. This year the exhibition is once again co-located with INAGRICHEM, INAPALM ASIA, and SugarMach Indonesia, making it one of Southeast Asia's most comprehensive gatherings for the agriculture business.

Bringing Precision Agriculture to the Industry Stage

As one of Indonesia's leading smart farming research centers, SmartAgri UGM presented a range of research outcomes developed to support the sector's transformation toward more efficient and precise farming systems. At the booth, visitors could explore innovations in precision agriculture, smart farming, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology, sensor-based crop monitoring, and data-driven decision-making tools.

These technologies are designed to boost productivity, optimize resource use, and support farming practices that adapt to the challenges of climate change. SmartAgri's participation reflects its commitment to accelerating the commercialization of research and expanding collaboration with industry partners, research institutions, and educational bodies.

Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc., a lecturer accompanying the SmartAgri UGM team who attended the exhibition, said the participation marked an important moment for bringing campus research closer to industry.

INAGRITECH is an important space for us to ensure that the research developed on campus does not stop in the laboratory, but genuinely answers the needs of farmers and industry. We want our students and SmartAgri researchers to see firsthand how precision-agriculture technology is adopted in the field, so that the journey from innovation to real-world impact becomes faster and better targeted.

Opening Space for Cross-Sector Collaboration

Beyond introducing innovations, SmartAgri's presence at INAGRITECH 2026 created direct interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, from business practitioners, academics, and students to research institutions, government agencies, and prospective industry partners. The discussions and exchanges throughout the exhibition are expected to lay the groundwork for stronger collaboration in developing and implementing agricultural technology across the country.

The participation reaffirms SmartAgri UGM's role as a research center focused not only on developing technology, but also on applying research results so they deliver real benefits to society and industry. By bridging academia and industry needs, SmartAgri continues to offer innovative solutions that support national food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Through INAGRITECH 2026, SmartAgri UGM aims to expand its collaboration network, introduce its innovations to a broader audience, and strengthen synergy among universities, industry, government, and farming communities to build a smart agriculture ecosystem in Indonesia. The exhibition runs through July 30, 2026, and the SmartAgri booth remains open to visitors interested in discussing its research and potential partnerships.
